Ami A. Shah, M.D. is a board certified radiologist since 1999 and was happy to join Zwanger-Pesiri in August of 2009.

Dr. Shah graduated Summa Cum Laude from a seven year combined BS/MD program, from which she received her BS at CUNY Sophie Davis School of Biomedical Education in 1992, and her MD from SUNY Stony Brook University- School of Medicine in 1994.

While at Sophie Davis, Dr. Shah received a Certificate of Achievement from the Committee on Professional Liability in 1991 and the Deans Award for Academic Excellence and Human Compassion in 1992.

In 1994, while at Stony Brook University, Dr. Shah earned both the American Association of Women in Medicine Award and the Marvin Kushner Award for Academic Excellence and Human Compassion. She also received honors in all clerkships and was accepted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society.

In 1995, Dr. Shah completed her internship in Internal Medicine at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, where she received Recognition for being an outstanding teacher to Medical Students. She then completed her residency in Diagnostic Radiology at The New York Hospital- Cornell Medical Center in 1999, earning the Outstanding Resident of the Year Award.

In 2000, Dr. Shah was an Assistant Radiologist at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, specializing in mammography and body imaging.

As evidenced by her multifarious honors and awards, Dr. Shah brings excellence, dedication and compassion to Zwanger-Pesiri. In addition to her six research grants, six publications, and four abstract presentations at national meetings, Dr. Shah also worked at St. Agnes Hospital in White Plains, NY for three years. With all of her experience, enthusiasm, and knowledge, it’s no wonder Dr. Shah was awarded Outstanding Recent Graduate in 2005 by Stony Brook University’s School of Medicine.

After working at two radiology practices in New York City, Dr. Shah is excited to join Zwanger-Pesiri, and of course we’re delighted to have her.
